Today, we both woke up early with Liz pestering me with kisses, trying to wake me up. We both got up and I showered and treated my sunburns, which are slowly getting better. It still hurts and is slow going.
We had a quick breakfast on the boat. I just had fruit as I wanted to keep my stomach free for some good Greek food. We got off the boat which was anchored on shore, but we still had to take a shuttle bus to the main city, but is was less than a 5 minute drive. The bus dropped us off on the outskirts of the city and then we walked in. We walked along the coast of the city looking at all of the churches and the beautiful sea. The sea is so lovely and blue. It makes me miss the beaches of Australia and not miss being in Wisconsin. We saw the cool waves and also some famous windmills on the top of a hill.
There was a lot of feral cats too...
We got into town really early and there was very little open. But, we went down to another beach on the other side of town. It was amazing. I shot a quick video with the camera, so I could have the sights and sounds forever.
After that, we made our way back to town and looked at some of the shops in town. Then, I was really hungry because of a light breakfast, we stopped at Spilia, a little Greek fast food place. I had to have gyros and we also had tziki and a little bottle of ouzo. I forgot that I don’t like ouzo. It tastes like black liquorish which I hate. I thought it tasted like vodka, I thought I could train him just as well as Yoda, I was wrong! Other than that, it was great great food. I wish they had more of this food on the boat.

(4:15 p.m.) - Mykonos Time
After lunch, we decided to get to the top of the hill on foot. We followed as many roads as we could, but only made it half way up on public roads. But, the view made the trip worthwhile. I got some great pictures as well. Then, it was about noon, so we decided to head back to the boat. So, we walked back to the shuttle bus and headed to the boat again within 5 minutes. We paid about $8 each for the all-day round trip tickets and it was totally worth it.
Back on the boat, things slowed down, we changed and went poolside in the indoor pool because it was really windy outside. We took a long dip in the pool and sat by the pool reading and sunning for the better part of two hours.
Them, because we got bored, we played a rousing game of mini golf on the top deck. The course needs a lot of work. I mean, a lot, it needs to be completely redone. So, after one round, we played shuttle board, which I haven’t played since I visited Florida. I suck and Liz beat me like 38 to 23.
Another thought about the town of Mykonos, or island, or whatever, that there are a lot of bikes and trucks that ride thru the town on very very narrow streets. You have to be really careful not to get run over by cars or trucks. All of the ground is really rocky, so I stumbled over myself quite a bit.
Also, just a funny story, while walking back to the bus, we were down by the shore and it was really windy there and a cushion blew off of a seat from one of the near by restaurants outside dinning and nailed me right in the nuts! Liz laughed…
(6:30 p.m.) - Mykonos Time
We retired to our room to freshen up for dinner and we went for a drink on Deck 4 where we got some more reading done. We had to specials of the day to drink. After that, we went to the buffet dinner because we were going to be skipping the regular dinner tonight. The buffet wasn’t bad and it had a lot of the food that you normally got at the normal dinner, plus a lot more international food then the dinner.
We had dinner early because we wanted to go to the honeymooners & anniversary couples event that they had at 8:30 p.m. on Deck 11 in the Viking Lounge. Truth be told, we only went to the event because of free booze (champ-pan-na) and the possibility of free prizes (spa packages), but we didn’t win the raffle, but did get free booze. Before we went up there, we did, finally, explore the casino because it had one of our favorite slot machines games, Little Green Men, of which we have fond memories from Spokane, WA. We still don’t know how the bonuses work, but it’s still fun.
The honeymooners thing didn’t last long and after we ducked out, we tried to watch Fool’s Gold only because it was the only thing on in our room. I think that Matthew McShirtless had it in his contract that he would be shirtless for about 80% of the movie. The studio didn’t put that in, he did. And, apparently, Kate Hudson needed a paycheck to feed her kids more gold-plated bananas or something.
